Gossart's stile , che fonde la forma italiana con le caratteristiche fiamminghe , mostra anche l'influenza di dürer , le cui incisioni portavano i canoni dell'arte classica in tutto il nord europa . Questo dipinto è il primo esempio in Gossart's opera del tema di adamo ed eva , un argomento che lo preoccupava nel corso del suo thirty-year carriera . È strettamente basato su Dürer's 1504 incisione di adamo ed eva , che presenta il culmine di Dürer's quasi four-year studio di queste due figure . Gossart scambiato Dürer's fitta cornice boschiva e abitanti animali per una radura ai margini del bosco , con un piccolo stagno dietro le figure e una vista aperta su un prato e le colline che si aprono sulla sinistra . questa costruzione paesaggistica è generalmente caratteristica delle opere che gerard david dipinse a bruges nello stesso periodo .
